This happened today! Former Prescott teacher Kristie Dukes (Ms. O’Neal to our kiddos) and her son, CW O’Neal, “pay it forward” to Jacob and Josh Christopher and their family who they met at the district and state fair talent contest. The Christopher boys were very impressed with CW’s guitars and his band but did not have guitars of their own. Their eyes lit up as they watched them play. Today, CW and Mrs. Dukes brought an electric guitar and an acoustic guitar along with an amp and accessories to gift to the Christopher boys. They have been blessed by others who have given them musical opportunities and they wanted to pay it forward. There were lots of smiles and a few tears as kind words were exchanged. God is good. #impactthepack
From the desk of Pearl Bailey along her Arkansas History students:
ARKANSAS’S COUNTIES PROJECT
Have you ever been in a class studying Arkansas history and learned that the state has 75 counties? Did you wonder how they compare to one another? Well, this year the seventh-grade students in Pearl Bailey’s classes at Prescott Junior High were given the opportunity to do an in-depth study of Arkansas’s counties. They were given the assignment of becoming experts on the people and the geographical and economical attractions for their specific county.
The class was divided into groups and each group was required to draw the name of a county, other than Nevada, from a bag. The students then wrote letters to the county judge and the county seat’s mayor for information about their county. After one week, counties started to respond by sending letters and packages to be used by students to paint a picture of the attractions for residents and tourists to their county. Among the packages were cups, shirts, county festival schedules, and county history pamphlets that included historical events.
Pictured are students opening these letters and packages.
Since COVID 19 has placed restrictions on some of our adventures, this project can encourage students and parents to take advantage of the many attractions offered by Arkansas - The Natural State

Congratulations to Prescott High School for being named HIGH ELA GROWTH: HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL (Southwest Region)!! 🐺🎉
Prescott High School has been recognized by the Office of Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas as a school that has a high percentage of students participating in free and reduced meal programs but is Beating the Odds because students demonstrated high growth on the ACT Aspire. The OEP creates an annual report entitled Outstanding Educational Performance Awards, recognizing schools with high student growth. The OEP thinks growth is the best indicator of the positive impact that our school is having on students.
In the Beating the Odds reports, Prescott High School was named High ELA Growth: High School Level (Southwest Region).
Awards were based on the 2021 content growth score calculated by the Arkansas Department of Education. These growth scores reflect how much students at the school improved from 2019 compared to how much they are expected to grow considering prior achievement. Schools are recognized on Overall growth, as well as for growth in Math and Language Arts separately.
Congratulations to our students, teachers and Principal Tommy Poole for their team effort and their impact on the pack! Keep up the hard work!
